Multi photo scrapping layout - Eiffel of A View

I am determined to try and finish one album as, probably like many other people, I seem to jump from one project to another. I have been concentrating on my Paris album which is mainly hybrid layouts and in a 8 1/2 x 11 size as I wanted to try something different. I will use my Cricut to bind it all at the end. This album is also a thrifty album as I have bought nothing new for it and have been making a lot of the backgrounds. This one is no different. I knew it had to be a double page but did not have enough of the blue patterned paper so decided to use it on one side and then a strip on the other page. To tie the pages together I stamped   a text based stamp from TH Shabby French all over both pages.
I didn't have enough letters for the badly punned title so used a old letter sheet to draw the title on with. I then water coloured the title and embossed it with Blonde Moments Powder. To make it more like the French blue enamel I drew a thin outline of white.
I created journalling tags and the camera, pocket and old style postcard from images I found on Graphics Fairy. I am trying to use some of these on most pages to give the album some kind of cohesive look.
I added some old lace, stamping, buttons and more of the blue paint which I also painted around all the photos to try and tie it all together.

It seems a little unbalanced and the photos are squint despite my best efforts but...

Hybrid Scrapping layout inspired by art journal - Home is where the table is

This layout came to me after I had completed an art journal page where the prompt was home. This was a hybrid layout for the scrap factor auditions. I like this layout but had put it into the hybrid category and only just realised that using fonts was not hybrid enough and I should have had another element on it. I used Heart stamps from Dylusions Love Struck Lucy and the Dwelling stamps by Claudine Hellmuth.

I sketched our table and paper pieced it using a piece of TH seasons paper and white card for the legs are coloured with pro markers. Papers: 3 bugs in a rug – double sided rhapsody and violet; SEI – sprouting spots; Coredinations Black magic lilac. Fonts – Pebbles white and American Crafts remarks raspberry. Home font  Sweet Sprinkes Shabby Princess
Aida cotton and voile from stash, embroidery thread and needles were used for the heart and stitching.
I used dylusions paints to stamp with and blend the colours on the dwelling stamps

Scrapping feverishly and secretly

I decided to have a go at the Scrap Factor Hybrid contest on UK Scrappers as a way of getting some more scrapping LOs done. I harbour no illusions about winning or getting through the audition stage but have enjoyed challenging myself to do these and that is what it is all about - having fun and playing with stuff. I have been busy scrapping, stamping, inking and tweaking computer images. I can't post the three completed LOs in full but thought I would give a few sneak peaks. I still have two to finish and a weekend filled with friends and my mother so not sure when they will be done. The deadline is friday. I have enjoyed putting my head on various stamps and all will become clear when you see the LO but one of the reasons is that I don't have many photos of me as I usually edit them out in horror at how chunky I am these days... and then reach for another biscuit. I have noticed that my work on art journals is having an influence on my scrapping work.

Scrapping farewells

We constantly seem to be saying hello and goodbye to our children as they experience life to the full. Our eldest DS, was home after 8 months in Paris, for a celebration of his birthday and then off on another adventure this time to Argentina. He's studying languages at university and has to spend this year abroad speaking French and Spanish. I am so envious and yet so glad we have encouraged him to be adventurous. This page tells the story of his usual chaotic packing and whilst I was sad he was going I did have a laugh as his 15  year old sister organised his packing and bossed him around. It worked and he got it all into his rucksacks.
I used a number of different digital kits from Owl Tree Studios - JLD Fresh Memories for the title and green paper, SKD Month brush and WBI Muse for the papers and elements. I doubled two frame ups around the photos and like the effect. The photos were snaps on my phone and tell a story rather than act as strong photographs.

Digital scrapping

These photos show my dad with my little sister and then mum, me, family friend and sis. As they were black and white I felt I could use a very colourful background. All the elements for this come from the Helping Hands Collaboration. I used a paper cluster and an embellishment cluster and felt like I was cheating. I love using digital kits but I find that I often mix up the elements from lots of different kits as that is what I would do with paper.

Scrapping the boys

I don't seem to have done so many boy LOs recently but as our eldest will be 21 this year I have been going back and reviewing old photos. These photos show the boys in the water with Jake, our black lab, who sadly is no longer with us. I don't remember him causing so much chaos as a pup as Jasper does but think I have rose tinted specs on.
I used Owl Tree Studio Lighter Side Kit for background and matting paper, Love Birds Kit Alpha, journalling block and flowers
As I have spent several hours tidying my craft room and taking everything off my desk and putting back on shelves, sweeping floor and generally clearing up weeks of mess in preparation for my craft room to morph into a spare room it will only be digital this week.

Digital scrapbook page

I have not been doing so much scrapping recently but as my eldest son will be 21 in a few weeks I thought I might make a start on a album about him. But after putting myself under huge pressure with previous albums for family members I have decided it does not have to be finished by then and will be an ongoing project. At the moment this project is digital 8 x 8 but when I print it off (need to buy ink for printer first) I suspect it will become hybrid/mini bookish. All the papers and elements (bar journalling tabs) are from OWL Tree Studios GBGD Sup kit, the journalling is from OTS Lilleyscrap Lovebirds kit.

Sweet Pleasures

I created this layout for a uks challenge using my latest December kits from Owl Tree Studios - all the elements came from the Joyous kit - apart from the birds that came from the Moments in the Morning kit. I changed the colours of elements and used text to create a background paper and had fun playing around with the title as the challenge title was simple pleasures.

Not just paper adventures

In the last few weeks I have been creating a lot of dig Los and no hybrid or paper. One of the reasons is that by the time I get in from work etc it is now dark in Scotland and I find it hard to see paper colours accurately. Was having withdrawal symptoms so tonight started a paper lo of mum and dads wedding. I had planned on using a range of pink papers but the black and White photos sucked the colour out of the pink. Plan 2 involves purples, lace punches and ample amounts of silver glimmer mists. My fingers are now inky and the midnight silver mist has got under my fingernails and won't come off. I love this messy stuff! No pics tonight as light so poor but maybe tomorrow. Lens guy is in the bath and singing (or wailing) along to faith no more, gotta love him. Feeling bit flat as DD in Paris and won't see him again till Christmas. Dreading next week at work as we got the inspectors in, am trying to finish mum's album and organise surprise party for 30th and it's Lens guy's birthday on Halloween...no shopping done yet.

More blog hopping with Helping Hands

There is so much choice in this wonderful kit and using the paper stacks and clusters saved me so much time, whilst it looks like I spent hours on this. I even managed to keep most of the "white space". If you click here you can find out more.
You can see the kit previews here and read why you should buy this fab digi kit.

Bubbly Lady

This is a layout about a lovely Dutch lady called Riek who looked after us when we were children. I used the Nature's Elements October kit from Owl Tree Studio. This was for a challenge on UKS. The bubbles came from the August kit and met the circular element of the challenge.

Monkeying around again with Owl Tree Studio Kit

I am very drawn to bright colours and layouts and all these black and white photos are so monochrome so just had to dip into fab You Like Kit from GBGD at Owl Tree Studio to create this page. It makes me laugh and remember fun times and if it does that it works for me.

Too close for comfort

Created a quick page using the Owl Tree Studio (August Collaboration) kit for the the numbers challenge using 1 photo, 2 fonts, 3 embellishments and 4 papers.  The papers and embellishments were all from the kit and I used Impact and Lucinda Handwriting as font. Those of you that follow this know that my guy (aka Lens Guy) is a professional photographer but at this point I really felt he was too near the edge.

My latest love (or obsession) with fonts and flowers

My group at UK Scrappers has to set a challenge and we have been working on a number of layout ideas. This one had to use nature as inspiration, a number of fonts and include a multiphoto layout.

I used a background paper from Wilna Furstenberg's Rain kit but altered the colour a little. The tags and lavender also come from this kit whilst the brads are from her Flyaway brads set. I typed the names of all the flowers in the photo mosaic out, made each one a different font, grouped and repeatedly copied them to make a background of flower names. The heart comes from the Miss Mint Pop Rock Grafitti set.
And now to the font obsession... "MY" comes from Betsy Suma Glitteratic Cupid Alphas, "Latest" from the Queen of Quirk Spring chicken alphas and the flower names fonts are: Apple Chancery, Herculaneum, Papyrus, Lucinda Blackletter, Calisto MT, Blackmoor LET, PC Myungo, Playbill, Disgusting Behaviour, Montagent Cherokee, Trebuchet MS and American Typewriter.

Feeling more inspired now and I love my job

This morning I decided that restrained layouts like the one I did last night are just not me. So I have reverted back to bright colours and mess and I much prefer it. I mixed and matched a variety of Owl Tree Studio's kits. I have just become a member there and am really enjoying the variety of kits - lots of freebies too - and the forums are really interesting.
I have survived the first week back with the pupils and have to admit that I love my job. There are days when I want to scream and shout - usually after some hormonally challenged 14 year olds but overall I am doing what I love and for that I consider myself very lucky. Now if I could only find more time from scrapping it would be perfect. I am having a digi weekend as it does tend to take me less time but I think I may have to get glue, scissors and ribbons out soon or I may have withdrawal symptons.
The elements I used for the layout above are:  Casa Mia Clouds,  matted  with red spots by GBGD from the August Collaboration - the staples come from there too. The bubbles are on several layers and come from the Beach Breeze kit. The Alphabets are a mix - Sea Blue Alpha from iscrapbook for 'Messing and Water',  Kaisercraft for the "on the" and the journaling is Handwriting Dakota font.

Scrapping mojobit off but like the Owl Tree Studios Kit

Created this using the August Collaboration kit, The Casa Mia Kit and Feeling Good. I liked using the journalling lines for the lined detail but think it might be missing something... may need to become hybrid.

From digital to hybrid

I completed another page on my digital oxford album but had already decided that I wanted to make these hybrid pages as they can look a little flat when in an album.  The first pic shows the digital image which is based on a banana frog sketch by Audrey. Once I printed out the lo I then added chalk to edges of paper to give more dimension. Then I got out my water colour paints and washed over the journalling area with white and purple. I punched in 4 eyelets and then added more brush strokes of white and purple to the background. Now I feel as if it is more me.

Front cover for oxford album

Finally managed to scrap a picture - I think I have been having withdrawal symptons. Due to time constraints I have created a digital page using a set from Shabby Princess called Sweet Sprinkles. I think this is going to become a hybrid album so watch out for alterations to this original printed page.

1 March 2010

Monday again

I have yet to print off this album and put it together but I did intend that this page went beside the first one, not exactly a double page LO more a will go well side by side intentionally kind of a LO.

Thank you tech people

I belive it is fixed and you can follow the link in the posting below but in case that is a problem here is a photo of my computer screen showing the page. If you try out the link below you can find the page - although now if appears to be the first page I created minus the journaling...Thank you to the very helpful people who explained I had jiggled with various privacy settings.
