My latest love (or obsession) with fonts and flowers

My group at UK Scrappers has to set a challenge and we have been working on a number of layout ideas. This one had to use nature as inspiration, a number of fonts and include a multiphoto layout.

I used a background paper from Wilna Furstenberg's Rain kit but altered the colour a little. The tags and lavender also come from this kit whilst the brads are from her Flyaway brads set. I typed the names of all the flowers in the photo mosaic out, made each one a different font, grouped and repeatedly copied them to make a background of flower names. The heart comes from the Miss Mint Pop Rock Grafitti set.
And now to the font obsession... "MY" comes from Betsy Suma Glitteratic Cupid Alphas, "Latest" from the Queen of Quirk Spring chicken alphas and the flower names fonts are: Apple Chancery, Herculaneum, Papyrus, Lucinda Blackletter, Calisto MT, Blackmoor LET, PC Myungo, Playbill, Disgusting Behaviour, Montagent Cherokee, Trebuchet MS and American Typewriter.

Hipstamatic pics and garden firsts

Here are the pics. I love the fact they are imperfect and unexpected. With these ones I used the "shake" function before each pic to make them even more random. It gives the pics a very surreal feel. The garden firsts are my first sunflowers out in the garden and my first bunch of sweet peas picked and grown in garden.

Sneaky peak at Mad Men Circle Journal

I am very proud of this little tag. There were blank dress cards to be decorated and when I read the instructions and explanations I just had to make one with a real lace petticoat. Then I spied the Martha Stewart glass beads which have been languishing on my shelves since I splurged on them months ago - they are pretty though.  I choose advertising as my theme as I love the style and graphics of the late 50's and early 60's, plus I have the added interest of mum as model then. I found the old advertisements and then used scrapping software to create a montage and fake red zigzag stitching. When I first printed it out it the colours were not bright enough so I printed an additional copy onto acetate and then sewed the two pieces together using blanked stitching.

 That was okay on the straight sections but I could not figure out how to make it go round a corner - I do like the mix of elements. I also created a tag for journaling that slots behind the acetate sections.  It did not print out that well so I distressed it using a wash of watercolour paints and then trimmed it with ribbons. The other page will have to wait until the journal returns to its owner.

Circle Journal part two, watercolour paints add to mix

On to the next stage... I decided that the green background paper needed a bit more oomph so decided to add my own grass with watercolour paints which reflected the style of the original digi kit. Then I took a look at my magic photo wheel and decided the lilac paper was too lilac and needed a little softening...

I have more or less figured out what one side of the lo will look like but not yet stuck it down - there may be on extra surprise that you can't see yet.

On the other side I want to have my cottage garden picture plus my photo wheel so decided I needed to create a pocket that would allow the photo wheel to go on top and be taken out and played with leaving the lo below. Not quite finished yet but almost there - the label will have journaling on back and can also be taken out of pocket. Hope you like - although it may still change a little as nothing is stuck down. The photograph is of the walled garden at Applecross House, Applecross Peninsula on the North West Highland coast of Scotland.

Progress on the muddy slope

This week the sinuous railway sleeper wall is beginning to appear. Lens Guy is still painting railway sleepers spruce green and at some point this summer I may be able to plant some pot bound plants like the poppy.
